Mind and Matter Performance Training

Are you an athlete, an actor, a singer, a dancer, or other performer who is looking to optimize their performance? Do your nerves get to you, or perhaps you struggle to stay focused during games, competitions, auditions, or shows? Do you feel like you are struggling to get into “the zone” when performing? If so, you are not alone! People who perform for a living, be it on the field or on the stage or screen frequently share common struggles such as:

  • Low self-confidence

  • High expectations

  • Breakdowns of trust in self and others (e.g., team, cast, director, coach)

  • Fear of failure

  • Being overly self-critical

  • Perfectionism

If these struggles sound familiar, contact me now! As a Mindfulness Sports Performance Enhancement (MPSE) instructor and someone who has performed successfully in a variety of arenas throughout my life, I have the training and expertise to help you train your mind to optimize your performance and address challenges that interfere with performance. How? By teaching a range of mind-body exercises that strengthen 5 key performance facilitators that research suggests are linked to achieving a state of flow or getting into “the zone.”

Did you know that by learning how to be mindful and then practicing mindfulness daily, you can achieve a range of benefits including:

  • Improving focus, attention and concentration;

  • Reducing stress;

  • Inducing a state of calm;

  • Improving memory;

  • Increasing pain tolerance;

  • Recognizing, regulating, and accepting strong emotions;

  • Enhancing mental and emotional flexibility

  • Cultivating greater kindness and compassion

  • Decreasing avoidance and escape behaviors

  • and Decreasing or even eliminating unhealthy levels of anxiety and/or depression.

When training with me, you will learn more about these performance facilitators; I will teach you a variety of practical, easy-to-do mind-body exercises that target these facilitators; we will discuss how to overcome obstacles, and how to establish a doable, sustainable mindfulness practice not only in performance-based situations, but in all areas of life.

This is a 10-week training, one hour each week, in person or virtual. I am offering this training individually or in group format. Participants must commit to the full 10 sessions, as each sessions builds on the previous ones. Participants are also expected to establish a regular daily mindfulness routine in between our weekly sessions (you will learn how to do this during Session 1).
